The XVIth International Conference on Time-Resolved Vibrational Spectroscopy (TRVS 2013) will be held in Beppu, Oita, Japan from May 19 to May 24, 2020. TRVS is a forum for discussing the latest developments in research utilizing time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy, with the aim of elucidating the structure and dynamics of molecular systems. TRVS is considered to be the most important conference in this field. TRVS has been held twice in Japan: Tokyo in 1991 and Okazaki in 2001. This is the third TRVS held in Asia.
TRVS is a biennial international conference that gathers experts in the field of time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy and provides them with discussion space for exchanging ideas and the knowledge about the latest advancement of the field in an intensive atomosphere. The history of TRVS traces back to 1982 when the first meeting was held in Lake Placid, USA. After the second meeting in 1985, TRVS has been regularly held every two years in the USA, Europe, and Japan. The conference covers the following topics:

For preparing your abstract file and submission form, please follow these instructions . The prepared files should be sent by e-mail to trvs2013@riken.jp as attachments. Please note that the abstract book will be posted on this website for open access.
Soon after the program meeting, which will be held in February 2013, we will inform you of the acceptance of your application and the presentation status (oral/poster). In order to confirm the conference program, participants who have submitted abstracts must complete registration from here by April 4, 2013 (The deadline is extended). Otherwise, their abstracts may be removed from the abstract book.

Beppuwan Royal Hotel is located on Kyushu island, Japan. There are several ways to reach the hotel, after you arrive in Japan. Each of them is explained below.
If you arrive at Narita international airport (NRT, Tokyo), You have two choices:
Narita airport — Haneda airport — Oita airport — Beppuwan Royal Hotel
You can transfer to a domestic flight to Oita airport (OIT) by first going to Tokyo-Haneda airport (HND) . There is an Airport Limousine Bus service connecting Narita and Haneda (65-85 min., 3,000 JPY) , as well as a direct rail connection (91 min., 1,740 JPY) . Oita airport is the nearest airport to the hotel. It has 13 direct flights from/to Haneda per day. From Oita airport, you can get an airport express bus to reach the hotel in 30 min. (see below)
Narita airport — Fukuoka airport — Beppu station — Beppuwan Royal Hotel
Alternatively, you can transfer to a domestic flight to Fukuoka airport (FUK) directly from Tokyo-Narita airport (14 flights/day). From Fukuoka, you can reach the hotel via ground transportation in about 2.5 hrs. (see below)
If you arrive at Kansai international airport (KIX, Osaka),
You have two choices:
Kansai airport — Itami airport — Oita airport — Beppuwan Royal Hotel
You can transfer to a domestic flight to Oita airport (OIT) by first going to Osaka-Itami (ITM) airport by airport limousine bus (70-85 min., 1,900 JPY) . Oita airport is the nearest airport to the hotel. It has direct flights from/to Osaka-Itami, 6 flights/day. From Oita airport, you can get an airport express bus to reach the hotel in 30 min. (see below)
Kansai airport — Fukuoka airport — Beppu station — Beppuwan Royal Hotel
Alternatively, you can transfer to a domestic flight to Fukuoka airport (FUK) directly from Osaka-Kansai airport (6 flights/day). From Fukuoka, you can reach the hotel via ground transportation in about 2.5 hrs. (see below)
If you arrive at Central Japan international airport (NGO, Nagoya),
Central Japan airport — Oita airport — Beppuwan Royal Hotel
You can transfer to a domestic flight to Oita airport (OIT) from Central Japan airport (2 flights/day). Oita airport is the nearest airport to the hotel. From Oita airport, you can get an airport express bus to reach the hotel in 30 min. (see below)
International flights arriving at Fukuoka or Oita
There are flights connecting Oita airport and Fukuoka airport to a few Asian cities. Oita has 2 flights/week from/to Seoul. Fukuoka is more convenient for foreign visitors coming through Seoul (9 flights/day). If you arrive at these airports directly, just follow the instructions below to reach the hotel.
From Oita airport
The boarding place for the airport express bus to the hotel is just in front of the Oita airport building. Buy a ticket (1,300 JPY) at the counter of the bus company (Oita-Kotsu) in the building or at a vending machine, and find a bus bound for "Oita (via Beppu)" or "Beppu-Eki mae" at platforms no.1 and no.2. You will reach "Beppuwan Royal Hotel" in 28 min. The current timetable can be found here .
From Fukuoka airport
A subway connects Fukuoka airport to Hakata station (5min., 250 JPY). You can take the express train, "Sonic", from Hakata to Beppu station (about 2hrs., 4,920 JPY including express fare) . A courtesy bus service is available from Beppu station (East Exit) to the hotel twice a day (15:00, 17:00). You can also take a taxi at Beppu station to reach the hotel (9 km, 16 min.).
Japan has waived the visa requirements for 61 countries and regions . Nationals of these countries and regions are not required to obtain a visa to enter Japan when the purpose of their visit is a conference. Please consult Guide to Japanese Visas for detailed information. Registration All participants are requested to register for attending the conference. Registration should be completed through two steps.
Send a filled registration form in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF formats to trvs2013@riken.jp as an attachment file. Before submission, please rename the file as "register_xxxx(your last name).doc" or "register_xxxx(your last name).pdf". Make a payment of the registration fee following the instructions below. Please remember that the early bird registration fee is applicable only for participants registered before March 8, 2013. After this deadline, the on-site registration fee will be applied. Upon receiving your registration form and payment, we will send back a confirmation email within one week.

Hotel reservation All participants should stay at Beppuwan Royal Hotel, where the conference will be held. The hotel provides rooms at special rates for participants.
Hotel rates (for one night / person) Twin room for single use 11,750 JPY Twin room for two persons 9,650 JPY *These rates include taxes, breakfast (May 20-24), and dinner (May 20, 21). *For May 19 and 22, the dinner is replaced by reception and banquet, respectively. *For May 23, these rates will be discounted by 2,500 JPY as dinner will not be served.
Hotel reservation should be done by filling in the relevant field in the registration form. Any changes in your reservation after the registration should be notified to the resort management at the address below.
